It is time we look at business sustainability as moving beyond the surface level of change and into a robust, authentic and powerful approach to how we build our careers, teams and organizations. Brand Leadership can do just that.
The phrase “Servant Leadership” was coined by Robert K. Greenleaf in The Servant as Leader, an essay that he first published in 1970. In that essay, he said:
"The servant-leader is servant first… It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. That person is sharply different from one who is leader first, perhaps because of the need to assuage an unusual power drive or to acquire material possessions…The leader-first and the servant-first are two extreme types. Between them there are shadings and blends that are part of the infinite variety of human nature."
In approximately one week I will finish my certification in the Rescue Institute's Certified MasterMind Executive Coaching Program - which focuses on the servant leadership model as it is coaching compass. The idea is that we are here to serve the executive population in a way to manifest a fulfilled, happy and successful life one of good health, meaning, focus and of wealth but certainly not of wealth alone. Wealth alone may not bring the authentic leader to the surface.
The Rescue Institute’s program attracted me for the synergy between how the founder, Drayton Boylston, and I see success. It is about living by your values to your values and from your mission and vision.
Brand Leadership has always been so much more than marketing or product awareness for me. I know we can lead a revolution that engages both the bottom-line thinking AND the compassionate, human capital development thinking. It is with this approach that together we can build a community filled with effective, sustainable businesses and organizations on all levels from for-profit to public to not-for-profit.
As Drayton sees it by serving these executives and helping them to leverage their talents and skills by virtue of their values they will become better leaders and thus form better teams and better organizations and a better world. I agree.
From the vantage point of the Brand Leadership lens and the FullSync Method, we can build better leadership processes in addition to better people, increase team-building, foster trust, innovation, respect and attunement; all to increase productivity at a healthy level and create better organizations. Actually when I think about it this is all about creating the BEST organizations.
Yes I say the BEST. That is the power of Brand Leadership; to build processes that result in best practices, best communication, and best leaders the BEST. It is about moving visions into reality in a healthy, effective sustainable way that makes positive impact on those affected by the vision.
Since brand leadership is about connecting promises to actions vision to bottom-line all in a respectful healthy way. It is also about a revolution a fresh way to see awareness and marketing a way to not polarize the compassionate side of organizational development and training to the money side of bottom-line accomplishment. It is time we look at sustainability as moving beyond the surface level of change and into a robust, authentic and powerful approach to how we build our careers, teams and organizations. Brand Leadership can do that.
I say it starts here and it starts now. Our firm is here to serve you to help you make the changes that need to be made to live a happier, healthier and more fulfilled life. We will do it through you as the leader or through your leadership actions and all with the understanding of your brand, your company’s brand and it all shows up in the world.
