For additional insight into BlueRio Strategies and its Hawk Collaborative Development, I have assembled a team of volunteer advisor. Read more about them below.

Volunteer Advisory Board Members:

Dominic Silvani - Advisor for Training Programs

Dominic Silvani, CVDC, currently resides in Chattanooga, TN with his wife and three dogs and works for BlueCross BlueShield of TN as a Training Consultant. He has received his Masters in Teaching and Learning with Technology and a Bachelors in Marketing. His career has taken many turns ranging from replacing gas meters to working directly with some of the brightest minds in the oil industry. His most recent position was a manager in the Talent Development department for Kinder Morgan. This was a unique position as it allowed him to use his creativity for curriculum design and coaching.

He designed and implemented leadership development programs for senior and mid-management staff. He has effectively taught operational excellence, financial acumen, and leadership/management curriculum to over 500 emerging leaders. Dominic has also authored a book titled The Storm Trilogy Book 1: The Quiet Storm. Some of his hobbies include photography, painting, golf, and auto mechanics. Dominic's passion is helping individuals know who they are and to achieve their own greatness. 

Elizabeth Braun - Advisor for Program Development, also Teacher's Assistant for
Various Programs

Elizabeth Braun - Cross Cultural Coach/Trainer and Certified Veteran Development Coach - has more than 60,000 hours delivering e-learning across multiple platforms throughout the United States, Asia and Europe and is a new board member for GAINS (Global Association for Interpersonal Neurobiology Studies).  An avid learner, she has taken formal classes in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Psychology. She also holds a certification in Animal health technology, and as an English teacher. Working with her students and coaching clients allows her to utilize highly intuitive and yet strategic thinking styles. Critical and sharp, yet with an eye towards positive versus negative feedback, she offers platforms for learning that result in highly efficient and effectively prepared students.

Liz’s coaching is often directed at supporting clients through cross-cultural, military-civilian and career transitions. In this capacity she is more empathetic and less critical – still strategic in her efforts. In addition to the cross-cultural training and coaching,  she also volunteers in program development for BlueRio Strategies and its Hawk Collaborative. Liz has been living and working in Europe for the last 8 years.

James Howard - General Advisor

James (Jim) Howard, CVCD - became an independent Consultant in 2002, after an extensive career in corporate management. He specializes in Management Coaching, Outplacement, Veteran Transitions and in Training and Career Development. While consulting for Right Management and Associates, he obtained several certifications in Self-Assessments and Career Development Systems. He was involved in coaching high potential management employees for HP in the Americas Division. While consulting with CPS HR Consulting, Jim served as a key member of the Public Sector Workforce Planning team.  He earned certifications in coaching veterans and their dependents from BlueRio Strategies. He is a life member of the VFW and a former combat veteran.

Jim received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northeastern. He has taught career development programs at Cal State University, Sacramento School of Continuing Education. He is a certified coach in outplacement counseling, career development, diversity awareness, and management practices. Jim has over 10 years working as a coach, trainer and talent acquisition consultant. 

Lori Luna - Advisor for Military-Related Programs

Lori Luna, CVDC, CWDP, MAEd, is committed to assisting individuals set life and educational goals to realize their potential. With a belief you are never too old to pursue your dreams, she recently earned her Master's in Adult Education from East Carolina University via distance education. After retiring from the United States Marine Corps, she earned her Bachelor's of Arts in Middle School Education at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, NC.

Mark Edmead - General Advisor

Mark Edmead never let his speech impediment or other people’s negative comments stop him. The high school counselors said his stuttering would prevent him from getting a good job. They advised him to apply for vocational schools rather than engineering schools. They said that African Americans were rarely accepted to top universities, let alone graduate. Mark went for his dreams anyway. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). Mark became a successful technology entrepreneur and a finalist in the Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award in 1988.

He overcame his speech impediment and now he is a sought-after author and lecturer on leadership, change management, and how companies can meet their strategic objectives. He has presented in Japan, China, Singapore, Europe, and across the United States. Mark is dedicated to empowering others to achieve their best. He knows what it takes to overcome challenges, and he is dedicated to helping others tap their unlimited potential. Mark’s list of consulting and speaking topics include: Communication skills, Effective leadership,  Self-motivation and empowerment, Teamwork and leadership,  Managing change, and Corporate entrepreneurship  Mark is an adjunct professor at Keller Graduate School of Management.

Shawn Jones - Advisor for Resilience Programs

Shawn Jones is the Director of Resources and Case Management at the non-profit organization Stop Soldier Suicide, an Adjunct Lecturer with Fayetteville State University and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Before his work in nonprofit management, he spent just over twenty years in the United States Military.  He has deployed once to Kosovo and Iraq and twice to Afghanistan.  Shawn has held numerous leadership positions, however being a Drill Sergeant and the Program Manager at the brigade level for resiliencey training were his favorites.  He retired in 2014 as a Sergeant First Class.

Shawn obtained his Bachelors of Science in psychology from Troy University and his Master of Social Work from The University of Southern California.  He currently is working toward his Doctorate in Social Work through Walden University and is completing his certification as a Veteran Development Coach.  Shawn has worked with children, teens, and adults in numerous settings dealing with with a wide array of issues.


Jessi LaCosta

Jessi LaCosta, Founder of BlueRio Strategies and its Hawk Collaborative... is a Board Certified Coach, professional speaker and seasoned facilitator. She focuses on fostering leadership potential and maximizing resiliency in individuals and organizations.

Her unwavering determination to help others meet their goals grew from her intuitive nature and ability to thrive after multiple traumatic events. These include a car-jacking abduction at gunpoint, and several home invasions. Coming from a bright, creative family with some members who experience anxiety as well as autism, has inspired her passion for helping others become more resilient whether they face personal or professional crises. 

LaCosta has developed programs and has taught 600+ students, professionals and board-certified coaches in various courses including: Hawk Eye© Coach Certification, Coaching Through Acceptance© CE Course for Board Certified Coaches, Survive and Thrive©, Hawk Eye Veteran Development© for workforce development and HR professionals, Authentic Leadership and Strategic Communication – University of Baltimore & Portland State, Business Planning and Business Communications – Small Business Development Centers – Southern CA, Strategic Marketing and Branding – Nonprofit Management Solutions, Personal Branding Boot Camps, Brand-Leadership, Brand-Centered Sustainability© and Organization Development Boot Camps

.LaCosta sits on the Board of Directors for GAINS (Global Association for Interpersonal Neurobiology Studies) and is the recipient of both the H. Mebane Turner Service and the Thomas J. Pullen Outstanding Young Alumna Awards from the University of Baltimore, 2013 Women Who Impact San Diego Award, and a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Duncan Hunter - Member of Congress.
